Handel House in Halle/Saale
In George Frederick Handel’s place of birth in Halle/Saale, visitors are presented with the composer’s musical works against the backdrop of his times and his European journey. The Handel House Halle Foundation is one of the world’s most prominent sites devoted to Handel-related research. It produces its own publication series and owns an impressive collection of first and early editions of Handel’s compositions and numerous historical documents related to their reception.
The editorial offices of the Halle Händel Edition are also located in the Handel House. Regional music history represents another important collection focus. The Handel House contains a permanent exhibition highlighting its extensive collection of musical instruments. In keeping with its motto “the musical museum”, the Handel House stages numerous concerts every year in its chamber music hall, organises conferences and holds the internationally renowned Handel Festival every year at multiple venues in Halle/Saale. With its multimedia programmes, vibrant performance practice and innovative research projects, the Handel House is keeping the music of past eras alive.
