Conclusion of the pilot project to assess the climate footprint of selected KNK institutions

On 25 April 2024 the final meeting of the pilot project Assessing climate footprints for KNK member institutions” took place at the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg. The project calculated the climate footprint of seven institutions for the first time, based on the national standards KBK& KBK+. These were adopted by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the German Länder on 11 October 2023.
All the participating cultural institutions conducted climate impact assessments based on KBK+ irrespective of their varying sizes, orientation and thematic focuses. Although the results varied considerably, this flagship project was regarded as highly relevant for Germany’s cultural landscape.
Pilot project participants:
• Wartburg Castle Foundation
• Luther Memorials Foundation in Saxony-Anhalt
• Dessau-Wörlitz Cultural Foundation
• Stiftung Schloss Friedenstein Gotha
• Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg
GRASSI Museums in Leipzig
• Bauhaus Dessau Foundation
We look forward to presenting the results of the project and sharing our experiences in discussion with other interested parties during the
Green Culture Festival (GCF) in cooperation with the Green Culture Contact Point on Tuesday, 4 June 2024, 12 pm – 1 pm, at the
